چکیده

Diabetic macular edema (DME) is an eye disease that belongs to diabetic retinopathy which leads to vision loss. DME, which is a swelling in the macular region of eye is a common vision problem seen in diabetic patients.Hard exudates (bright lesions)in the fundus image indicates the presence of DME. When blood vessels in retina of diabetic patient is begin to leak into the macula region of eye leading to vision loss. Early detection of Macular Edema in diabetic patients prevents blindness. So in this article detection of exudates and its proximity towards macula determines and thereby its everity level. This article presents the computer based approach for the DME detection, which includes the steps image preprocessing, localization and masking of the optic disk, detection of fovea, ROI extraction, motion pattern generation, determination of disease severity level. First stage, detecting of DME and the next stage is assessing the severity of DME. Also this paper presents an automatic method for glaucoma detection.

Decision Support System for Age-Related Macular Degeneration Using Convolutional Neural Networks

Introduction: Age-related macular degeneration (AMD) is one of the major causes of visual loss among the elderly. It causes degeneration of cells in the macula. Early diagnosis can be helpful in preventing blindness. Drusen are the initial symptoms of AMD. Since drusen have a wide variety, locating them in screening images is difficult and time-consuming. An automated digital fundus photography...

Automatic Segmentation and Classification of Hard Exudates to Detect Macular Edema in Fundus Images

Detection of the presence of hard exudates in fundus images of diabetic patients is very important. If hard exudates are present in the macular region of retina, it will lead to Diabetic macular edema. Diabetic Macular Edema disease leads to vision loss problem in Diabetic patients. Early detection of Macular Edema in diabetic patients paves a path for prevention from blindness. Diabetic Macula...

Comparison of Cysts in Red and Green Images for Diabetic Macular Edema

PURPOSE To investigate whether cysts in diabetic macular edema are better visualized in the red channel of color fundus camera images, as compared with the green channel, because color fundus camera screening methods that emphasize short-wavelength light may miss cysts in patients with dark fundi or changes to outer blood retinal barrier. METHODS Fundus images for diabetic retinopathy photosc...

Motion Pattern-Based Image Features for Dme Detection, Extraction and Assessment from Color Fundus Images

Diabetic macular edema (DME) is an advanced symptom of diabetic retinopathy which leads to vision loss. Here a methodology comprises of two stages is proposed. First stage is detecting of DME and the next stage is assessing the severity of DME.DME detection is carried out via a supervised learning approach. A technique called feature extraction is introduced here to capture the global character...
